EPIC: Odyssey of the Mind World Finals 2010 ♥

it was an awesome short week!
filled with running (insider joke!) walking gaying laughing (contests!)

MSU is a beautiful place, but the food D:

got to know lots of people from everywhere
kentucky, ACS Barker, river valley?, georgia, canada, ETC!
super fun and wacky!

we got to know those barker boys because of one stupid dumb but not so dumb reason

MASKING TAPE!

well we needed masking tape and started talking to them and making friends!
then we spent more time together (as 2 big groups, get it?)
meridian mall together, didnt really interact, but aaron and bruce were super gay. and and the laughing contest!
next day, went to the closing ceremony together late, on the magic school bus. sang all the way, taught each other our cheers, super fun super cute. after that walked back together, we were running (not literally, insider joke again!) all the way and singing random songs. like baby bad romance run devil run gee genie bloobbloobbloob lots of it. and mr ng said that it was like liu san jie cause we sang, then the boys sang and so on... oh and we were talking about CSM with them, instead of boring hwach who doesnt even cheer D:

world finals results were quite disappointing, cried, but okay. so we shall be 6TH in the world
rest assured- WE'LL BE BACK!
but gloated because both ACS Barker and us won -SOMEONE-

APPASSIONATA XII was a blast;
well i didn't cry- which really surprised me, haha
thanks for supporting NYCB everyone of you in the audience

it was my 1st concert (i can't believe i'm using 'was' now!)
so fresh so new so exciting!
didn't disappoint my friends who went, changed their views about band music.
so i think, NYCB, we made it! we've moved our audience, CONGRATULATIONS!

saw cheryl and the alumni, recognised a few faces- not really talking much, but a little
it's a good start, haha.
can you believe that part of our section (current and past) are the emcees!
wenting's manly voice over the mic, LOL

we started off shaky, unsure and nervous-
but it was great, looking at the audience, watching them applaud,
march blue sky and flight of the piasa, part of my favourite repertoire!

junior band was fine, but backstage that erin was hyperventilating
YAY WE GOT GAY JUNIORS!
yunsi was quiet as usual but smiling :D
and and that crazy vivian and ladylike jingwen were as gay as ever !

intermission- dashed out to look for everyone who came to support us
oh and to scold all the crazy women who like shouted my name 5 times?
they re so irritating but also super cute- okay la i love them!
family, typical kinda thing.
then jarren daryl and hengyee. a bit awkward a bit funny but okay!

jazz band was uber cool! :D
wish i was in the audience, but backstage it was cool enough

alumni band- jingyi and wenting as emcees, can't believe it, but argh! wenting's manly voice over the mic, oh no i said it again. it was cool la, first suite was so grand sorta thing. and the charlie chomplin was gay and light and cute!

PERSEUS~! it was awesome, could hear that everyone was enjoying and moving along. touched the audience, almost everyone told me that they liked perseus the most, especially the singing part. frog says that its airy but it fits the song, so oh well!

broadway obladi - gimmicks! very funny and a little lag also, sherena the best!

american beauties, nice but muffled, my tongue twist into knots, my gawhhh . but too bad toilet bowl quality acoustics can't project.

then we just stood there and listened to the applause & the ENCORE!!!!!!
after that we went on to tijuana!
it was really fun to play, screwed stuff up, but :D

after it all ended, it was so unreal! section photo with horns, young-old-veryold
cheryl: are you sure it's the correct section under me? why suddenly got so many children!
and bei lin was being gay, i high ma!

overall, APPASSIONATA XII was a success.
jingyi's right- if you give nycb your 100% it will give it 200% back, at least
oh no i want appassionata XIII, can we have it next year?

satoshi yagisawa live in singapore is awesome.
the ntusb's horns were like one and their tone was so in tune!
really inspired to play perseus well after this, watching satoshi yagisawa himself conduct perseus, finding myself fingering it as the band plays, all that really got me inspired.
all the ripping by both bands are good, especially the ntu band, really nice, they were like ripping and ripping and ripping throughout the entire concert. but it was great, the concert itself was inspiring. it really captured my heart, touched the audience and moved the people.
i think yesterday night's concert was great, the beautiful concert hall totally matches the beautiful music the bands played. it was like a night of 3 conductors, pouring their hearts out, gracing each note with their love. what satoshi yagisawa said was really true, he said to people who loved his music to play it with your heart.
i loved the way he conducted, he was like conducting with his entire mind, body and soul. i wish i could play under his baton one day, and be part of the magic he makes.

LSC was a blast :D
201 won! Most Creative Activity (Amazing Race!) 2nd in Drama Event!
It was quite miraculous, I dont mean the Amazing Race part, but Drama, I think it was quite a miracle, because I think we have got some impressive competitors. Then I got an individual award, Outstanding Leader Award, it was such a pleasant surprise!

Drama was fun, all the actors had face painting on and costumes were cool too. Added a balloon and forks&spoons part last minute, the balloon part was super fun! Well, winning is just the icing on top of the cake, it made the entire thing more meaningful and happy for us!

Sleeping under the stars was fun, but we didnt see any shooting stars. Just a couple of the brightest stars considering that there was a big huge cloud blocking everything. The quadrangle ground was also warm and weird, haha, but it was nice to sleep in the quadrangle :D

Night trail, it wasnt scary, just that we were like more resistant to all these stuff since its called the NIGHT TRAIL, I mean it got its name not for nothing right? I saw Jingwen at the toilet, then I could just tell that its her from her voice. Section mates for one year and I hear her 3 times a week, so how is it impossible?

Mind games was cute, just that there were some little unhappiness that cost us our teamwork marks. But sad to say, I do not regret it the least bit, at least I got something off my chest. Sounds selfish? I dont. I still think Werewolf is a really nice game!

Telematch(es) was okay, the big big plastic sheet then we pass the newspaper game was fun. Cheering session added more lines to our Awesome Cheer! We also made up lots of cheers like the Turk Turk Cheer, the Tick Tock Cheer, the Sunshine Cheer and some weird random ones that I cant remember, haha.

It rained during our Amazing Race, so we had it in school. But it was still a blast! Well organised, cohesive, happy, fun, high, you name it! I am so glad its over, but really I took back a lot from organising and carrying out the Amazing Race, so I think it was quite worth it.

Well I think 201 really put in a lot of effort into this entire camp, from Amazing Race, Drama, to every single activity. Maybe sometimes we are more tired than the other times, we may be impatient what so ever, but in the end I think it just came together really nicely. Just like how our imperfections make us ever so perfect! 201 <3

after band, surprisingly i wasn't hungry, but i wouldnt have the money for food la~ i didnt bring my wallet, my nametag that is inside my wallet and my ez-link card that is inside my wallet. so my dad came to pick me up :D while waiting i was packing scores with jingwen, jingyi and silei. jingwen left afterwards then jingyi and silei were talking to rie about pig's eyes, grasshoppers and cockroaches. some yucky dissection thing, YUCK!

today was boring day, homework, facebook, homework, facebook...
yesterday, caught up with an old classmate through facebook, talked and reminisced, talked and anticipate. blah! our concerts are both coming, practising practising and practising, just for that night of perfection. understanding what each other meant was easy, but keeping up was another thing, haha. but misunderstandings make conversations funny!

hah, all of you have no idea who im talking about. just both of us knows, :D

anyway, something happened at home yesterday, real drama, ask me about it! haha
im reduced to doing housework now, all that washing folding and ironing. eww, yuck!

yesterday was full of ups and downs, talking to an old classmate was fun. thinking about last time, sharing about what we re doing now, hauling insults at each other as usual, haha! then the drama thing, makes me feel like a scriptwriter, was tempted to write it down, but didnt, im lazy! read TKAM at night, trying to finish it before monday, wonder if it s even possible. slept peacefully till 7.30am this morning, god knows why am i awake so early in the morning!

hey! today was a blast, met the class, OMG love them so much!
but i forgot to bring their present.

anyway, cca exhibition was great, it felt like band prac, then we were like desperately trying to attract attention, haha! but with our big sound i think everyone heard us, and thought that cca exhibition is so cool, it has BACKGROUND MUSIC! oh no, thats bad right? jingyi says we didnt get a lot of people who signed up, she said they black face her, this year sec one so attitude?! okay, may be they are just shy! we were in half u and stuff, band skirt band tee, then we played there, where we always play the national anthem, and i was sightreading some of the songs and i got lost in the others that i knew! oh my my my...

oh then i went for boarding sch tour to refresh my memory, and there was this irritating person in my group that acted like she knew everything really well, rawh, she stayed there for three weeks, the same time i did and gah she was so UGHH! but yup, it ended and i went home in half u, didnt have the time to change out. rush here rush there rush everywhere!

spring cleaning today, found lotsa old stuff and memories came flooding back.
remembered the times where i shared notebooks with L and S, you know, telling each other stuff through writing. but it changed and stuff. anyway, i read the notebooks and memories of 6A came back, it was a great feeling. that time, we thought that we will be friends forever and stuff, but things change and i kinda like it now.
but anyway, now there's 201 and horns and batch, people who im loving so much now.

farewell wasnt sad as i thought i would be, just happy and warm. we went out after that but jingyi couldnt go, oh no! we took section photo and stuff at ramen monster, jingyi's in it too, the pic's in sherena's phone. anyway after ramen monster we walk around and ended up in ben's and jerry's, we shared a pint and it was really fun talking and bonding. then it was 9pm and then someone was guilty(fine! it's me!) so we went home.

Let's just say AEP was great yesterday :D
We did character design with MR CHANG :D He's so funny cause he shaved one of his eyebrows, then we laughed for like half an hour. He said it was for a show, then he said things that are taken for granted has to be lost to be seen, etc...
but it was great to be taught by Mr Chang again, even though he looks so funny now...

Why was it Mr Chang teaching us yesterday? Let's just say someone was angry with us, but Mr Chang said that he was busy...

My character is called SARAH, she's a mushroom head.

Band was great too, wasn't late because of AEP. We were with the main band the whole time, cause there was an election for a student conductor next year. It was nice, but i just randomly put down a name when we had to vote.

AND WE GOT OUR JACKET :D
it has nicer sizes but has a grey thing at the zip there for no apparent reason made known to me. BUT IT'S STILL NICE. jia hui raped my jacket! T.T

This composer composes really nice songs like "Kiss the Rain" and "Rive flows in You". It's really nice, go and youtube and look for a nice version of it, bet you'll love it :D

He's a South-Korean composer, who starting learning the piano at the age of 5. He's really talented and romantic. One of his songs "27 May" was written for his wife, 27th May was their wedding day, that's really romantic and all.

I find his music, soothing and has a captivating rhythm. Though it's slow, but it is full of spirit and expression, full of emotions.

As I'm writing this, I'm listening to an entire playlist of songs by him, a few different versions on different instruments of "Kiss the Rain" and "River flows in You", violin, piano, flute, and harp even.

The best part about these songs is that it is interpreted in different ways by different musicians, be it the people who arranged the music or those who really played it. Like, there could be two versions, both on violin, but somehow they sound different. Sound, emotion, speed, etc.

I'm going to get the piano part for "Kiss the Rain" and maybe "27 May". Then I shall leave it in my music file until I can finally play it with ease and grace. But it still has "Canon in D" there, something by Chopin there and a song that is made up of 3 different songs, oh and "Fur Elise" too, all not quite practised. I wonder when am I going to make up my mind and start practising something.

it was super super fun/ & 1o1 bonded [:

Day 1:
started off with treasure hunt. we had to hold onto th shoulder of th person infront while walking . den gt clues. have to find places in sch.. first one. got th right place but timing lag. cant play.. nvm. second 1. cant think of th place. time lag oso. used magic wish to decode third one. went to library. received briefing den went to do task. i had to look for sch's history place.tt one is like common sense? use xiao shi book la. den i go take lurhhs
aft we gather again den had to complete worksheet. den jiu do lurhhs. finish.den went to lion dance troupe place i think. went in to count stuff. den blablabla.. of course get pass lahh.. next went to alumni room. sang sch song. each person 1 word? according to wanglaoshi we were last.. =.="
nvm. den went rooftop hall. wrote words with mao bi. but the mao bi must use 4 string to control de. ??? funny funny ideas.. my group wrote xiao/ turned out very bad...

so thy conquered 1o4. den we defend.
